NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Friday once again disallowed a plea by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) seeking relaxation in the order barring it from allowing commercial use of farmhouses, banquet halls and parks in the Capital for organising marriages and other social functions. A Division Bench of the Court comprising Justice B.A. Khan and Justice A.K. Sikri rejected MCD's plea and directed it to spell out its policy, if any, on it by November 7. Seeking the relaxation in the order, counsel for the Corporation submitted that the local body had requested the Delhi Government to extend the earlier policy on commercial use of farmhouses, which expired in Mach 2005, till March 2007 till a new was framed. He further submitted that the Union Urban Development Ministry and the Delhi Government had jointly deliberated the issue at a meeting on September 27 and there was a possibility that the operation of the earlier policy would be extended. The petitioner in the matter, Bhrashtachar Virodhi Sangathan, also opposed the local body's request.
