Cabinet panel briefed on Iran vote

NEW DELHI: Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran briefed the members of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA) here on Friday about the circumstances under which India had to vote against Iran in the International Atomic Energy Agency meeting held in Vienna.

Talking to newspersons after the CCPA meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee said other parties could not be taken into confidence about the voting as it was not known beforehand whether voting would take place on the Iran issue. — UNI
