THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An elephant in the procession carrying the Navarathri idols from Kanyakumari district to Thiruvananthapuram ran amok when it reached Samiyarmadom near the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border on Friday. The elephant's bad humour disrupted the procession for a couple of hours. Two priests with the idol of Saraswathi Devi were astride the elephant. Though thrown off the elephant's back, they did not come into any serious hurt. The idol of Saraswathi Devi was shifted atop another elephant and the procession continued its journey.
