NEW DELHI:
Around 550 jhuggis were removed in a demolition drive undertaken by the DDA in an East Delhi area.
Amidst tight security, the demolition drive in Pandav Nagar area of the city, that began on Thursday, was completed on Friday. The anti-encroachment drive was carried out acting on directions of the Delhi High Court.
Meanwhile, in a freak incident, a woman was hurt as a bulldozer deployed in the action hit an electric pole.
At the end of the demolition drive, as the bulldozer was leaving the area, it hit an electric pole in Mayur Vihar Phase II, which in turn fell on a woman, police said. The woman has been admitted in Metro Hospital in Noida. -- PTI
