No groupism in Congress: Shanmugham

PONDICHERRY: : The Pondicherry Pradesh Congress Committee president, P. Shanmugham, has said that the constitution of the party's committees at the block, district and State levels would be completed in a month's time.

Talking to newsmen here on Saturday he said that a State level conference of the party would be held here in February and it was likely that the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the AICC leader Sonia Gandhi would address the conference.

Asked if the party was getting ready for the Assembly polls due in May next year he said that the purpose of holding the conference and formation of the committees was not at all aimed at pre-election programmes for the party. ``We want to ensure that the party grew stronger and stronger," he said describing reports of groupism in the party as baseless.

Mr.Shanmugham returned here on Friday from Delhi after holding talks with the party high command.
