DINDIGUL: About 2,278 candidates appeared for the written test for the post of police constable held at the Armed Reserved Police Ground near here on Saturday. Call letters had been sent to 2,353 persons, including 1,316 in Dindigul district (891 men and 425 women) and 1,037 persons (843 men and 194 women) in Theni district. About 75 persons, including 47 men and 28 women in both the districts, did not attend the examination. Security was beefed up at the venue. Four-tier security arrangements were in place and speed-dome cameras installed to monitor the candidates. Led by Deputy Inspector General Police M. Ravi, 460 police personnel, including Superintendent of Police M. Kandasamy, Additional Deputy Superintendent of Police, Deputy Superintendents of Police and inspectors monitored the examination.
