Flattery doesn't please Chief Minister
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD:
Flattery is music to ears, particularly so for most politicians.
But, it is not so pleasing to Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who has forced a speaker to cut her laudatory references to him.
When Vijaya Khader, president, Association of Food Scientists and Technologists (India), City chapter, in her welcome speech at a national workshop began addressing Dr. Reddy as an "astute politician and charismatic mass leader," he immediately signalled her to stop as the audience burst into laughter.
The Chief Minister also made S. Raghu Vardhan Reddy, Vice-Chancellor, Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University, who was sitting next to him on the dais, to rush to the speaker and stop further references to him.
