Priority for slum development, says Karimnagar Mayor

Plans to transform town into a model one


  • Focus will be on sanitation and tree plantation
  • Assures to open primary health centres in slums
  • Promises to secure more funds for the corporation

    KARIMNAGAR: Newly elected Mayor of Karimnagar Municipal Corporation D Shankar has said that he will accord priority for development of slums and colonies on the outskirts by providing all amenities.

    Talking to newsmen here on Friday, Mr. Shankar said that he would take measures for transforming Karimnagar town into a model one by taking up sanitation and plantation drive. He also assured to open new primary health centres in the slums for the benefit of poor people. The Mayor also said that he would secure more funds for the corporation with the help of Minister for Sports M. Satyanarayana Rao.

    He also thanked Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, APCC president K. Keshava Rao and Sports Minister M. Satyanarayana Rao for selecting him as Mayor. Mr. Shankar said he would strive to fulfil all the promises made during the elections and uphold the image of Congress.
