More melodrama in an outrageous plot

CLICHéD STORY: Lucky Ali and Meera in `Kasak'

Kasak (Hindi)

Director: Rajiv Babbar

Cast: Lucky Ali, Meera, Mukesh Tiwari, Puneet Issar

Rajiv Babbar comes back from Ooty, leaves Mithun Chakravarty behind and embraces Lucky Ali. Gone are "Jallad" and "Chandal". It is time for "Kasak".

The more things change, the more they stay the same. The same melodrama, the same outrageous plot and the same mediocrity creeps into every frame. There is a male nurse, Lucky Ali, whose face is forever clouded with distress and depression. There is a female nurse, Meera who is always clad in pink and with the way she walks in the hospital, not too many patients would be inclined to call her "Sister Anjali", the part she is supposed to portray.

He loves her and she loves him. Actually, she loves his riches more. The guy had got a crore as a gift from one of the patients! She can stoop to slander and is happy with separation. But he still pines for her. Why? We cannot see, given the ugly, ugly caricature Meera sketches of her in-love-with-the-bucks role. Incidentally, Meera has gone on record saying that her competition in Bollywood are the Aishwaryas and the Ranis. Forget Ash and company, bring on Sneha, Mink and all those names associated with Rajiv Babbar and T.L.V. Prasad ventures. As for the moping hero, after every rejection he heads to the crematorium for relief. Might as well take the film along! Babbar's "Kasak" has no life and no pulse. Still want to watch "Kasak"? Here is a tip: Ask somebody to finance the venture. Take the cash and keep it in your pocket. You would be richer that way.
