Couple commits suicide

A couple committed suicide by allegedly jumping into the Gandipet lake under the Narsingi police limits on September 28. Their bodies were fished out on Saturday. They were identified as J. Venkatesh (25) and Maya (22), residents of Gudimalkapur. Venkatesh, an auto-rickshaw driver, apparently had a quarrel with Maya on September 27. The next day, they were believed to have jumped into the Gandipet lake. The auto-rickshaw in which they went there was found abandoned. The police grew suspicious after none claimed the three-wheeler. Later, their bodies were fished out. The police are yet to establish the reason for the extreme step.

Housewife ends life

A housewife, S. Pramila (26) of Moosarambagh died after she allegedly consumed poison at her house on Friday. She was the wife of Vijay Krishna. The couple was married in August this year. Pramila's husband and in-laws were reportedly harassing her for additional dowry. The Malakpet police registered a case. - Staff Reporter

Man murdered

A petty thief, Mohammed Nisar Mohiuddin (30) who was allegedly harassing a beautician, was hacked to death reportedly by her relative under the Charminar police limits on Friday.

The police said Mohiuddin allegedly used to tease the girl. When her family members learnt about it, they called Nisar to discuss the issue. He was reported to have demanded Rs. 3 lakhs from the girl's family for not harassing her.

As tempers ran high, one of the girl's relative, Hashim Ali picked up a butcher's knife and hacked Nisar to death. Later, Hashim surrendered to the Charminar police. - Staff Reporter

Boy dies in accident

Eight-year-old Mohammed Abdul Hassan died and his father escaped with injuries when the motorcycle which they were riding was hit by a lorry at Shantinagar under the Chandanagar police limits on Friday. The boy died on the spot. He was a resident of Jawahar Nagar. - Staff Reporter
