Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: A pilot scheme called "Jan Kerosene Pariyojana" for easing supply of the fuel to households will be launched throughout the State on Gandhi Jayanthi.

The objective of this public distribution scheme is to facilitate supply of kerosene to consumers and ration card-holders throughout the month instead of just two or three days in a month. An important feature will be the installation of an underground tank at each wholesale point at the cost of the oil company.

Andhra Pradesh has been given special treatment by the Centre by sanctioning 104 locations for the pilot project as against 605 for the entire country, according to the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, A press release said the investment by the oil companies in the country worked out to be around Rs 700 crore of which AP's share would be Rs. 120 crores.
