KOCHI: The Queen of the Arabian Sea is all set to host The Hindu Young World Quiz that has by now become an eagerly awaited annual event for the entire academic community associated with school education, particularly for the keen quizzers among school students. This year's regional round and national finals will be held at Le Meridien Resort & Convention Centre, at Kundannur Junction on National Highway Bypass here on Tuesday. As many as 350 teams from 130 schools in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Alappuzha, Kotayam and Idukki districts will be participating in the competition. Students from classes nine to 12 are eligible to represent their school. Each school can send up to three teams, each team consisting of two members. The preliminaries will start in the morning and it will be a written round. Each team would be given answer-sheets on which they will have to jot down the answers to the questions posed by the quizmaster. The evaluation of the answers will be carried out immediately afterwards. From the preliminary round six teams will be selected for the regional round. The all-India finals will be held in the afternoon and the prizes will be distributed soon after it. Film actress Kavya Madhavan will be the chief guest. Eveready is the national title sponsor and IQ Topper the associate sponsor of the competition. The national sponsors are Reynolds, State Bank of Travancore, Cycle Brand Agarbathies, Encyclopaedia Britannica and Penguin Books. Coca-Cola is the official softdrink. The event is managed by Quizwalahs. The regional sponsors are Veega Land, Nutrifud, Vijayalaxmi Cashew Company, Craze Biscuits, Hyundai Electronics, Reliance Infocomm, Num Num Chocolates, First Citizen - Citizen Watches, Geepas, Boxer Sports Goods, Munnar Woods and NIIT Ravipuram. Abad Group of Hotels is the hospitality sponsor.
