Ride on constant plot-holes

Constantine (English)

Cast: Keanu Reeves, Rachel Weisz

Director: Francis Lawrence

Keanu Reeves carries on the burden of saving the world. After being the chosen one in the Matrix, he is now John Constantine, a chain-smoking demon hunter, patrolling the streets of Los Angles to send the scum of the netherworlds back to where they belong. There was this whole controversy about the film glorifying smoking - not really as the archangel Gabriel tells Constantine, "You are going to die young because you've smoked 30 cigarettes since you were 13." And Constantine is the first superhero dying of lung cancer. Constantine is blessed or cursed with a unique gift - he can see the demons and angels. He is doomed to eternal damnation as he tried to commit suicide. Brought back to life, Constantine is trying to earn brownie points by ridding the earth of demons. The movie is a whole lot of theological mumbo jumbo, which is quite often ludicrous. Constantine is the greatest fun for its kinetic visual style. The film's incredible style helps you overlook the giant plot-holes and enjoy a ride on the wild side.
