COIMBATORE: Vaga Agro Products India Limited, a public limited company promoted by the All Kerala Vanilla Growers' Association, will start purchasing vanilla from the association members in the Nilgiris from October 8. The company will purchase vanilla dry beans processed in the factories of the association at Rs. 6,000 a kg, according to a release. It is setting up an extraction unit in Kerala at Rs. 3.5 crores and this is expected to be operational in six months. It has also launched vanilla blended coffee and tea. The motive of the association is to ensure that farmers' decide the price for their produce, the release added.
