Aishwarya advances

BANGALORE: The talented Andhra youngster, Y.P. Aishwarya, made a clean sweep of her round robin ties in Group `A' and stormed into the semifinals of the girls under-12 singles in the Nike Junior Tour Masters tennis championship at the KSLTA Stadium here on Tuesday.

Aishwarya, with a win under her belt t on the opening day, won both her matches, beating teammate Doondipriya 6-1, 6-1 and Shweta Rana of Maharashtra 6-3, 6-1. Nova Patel of Gujarat was the other qualifier for the semi-finals from Group `A' while, Rishika Sankra of Mahrashtra made it to the semi-finals from group `B'.

The results (round-robin):

Boys Under-14 (Group A): Chritsopher Marquis (Mah) bt Bibaswan Deb (WB) 7-6 (7-3), 6-0; Sudavana Sitaram (TN) bt Yuki Bhambri (Del) 7-5, 6-2.

Group B: Mansingh Athare (Mah) w/o Venkat Iyer (AP); Shiva sangwa (Chd) bt Preethak Bhambri (Chd) 6-1, 6-4; Preethak Bhamabri bt Mansingh Athare 6-3, 6-3; Shiva Sangwa w/o Venkat Iyer.

Under-12 (Group A): N. Sai Karthik (AP) bt Bava Hadin (Mah) 7-5, 6-3. Group B: Mohit Mayur (TN) bt Ronit Bhist (Del) 6-2, 1-6, 6-3; Ramkumar Ramanathan (TN) bt Surya Pavan (Del) 6-3, 6-2.

Girls Under-14: Aishwaraya Srivastav (MP) bt Kyra Shroff (Mah) 7-6 (7-1), 6-0; Kelsey Sundram (TN) bt Danuielle Jones (WB) 7-5, 6-1.

Group B: Adnya Naik (Mahel) bt Soniya Dayal (Mah) 6-3, 6-3; Sharmada Balu (Kar) w/o Prerna Bhambri; Soniya Dayal bt Sharmada Balu 3-6, 6-1, 6-4; Adnya Naik (Mah ) w/o Prenra Bhmabri.

Under-12: Y.P. Aishwarya (AP) bt Shwetha C. Rana (Mah) 6-3, 6-1; Nova Patel (Mah) bt J. Doondi Priya (AP) 6-0, 6-2; Y.P. Aishwayra bt J. Doondiprya 6-1, 6-1; Nova Patel (Guj) bt Shweta C. Rana 6-2, 6-4.

Group B: Rishika Sunkara (Mah ) bt Ankita Raina (Guj) 6-1, 6-1.

Mysore Dist. wins

At Bangalore: Mysore District scored a narrow 4-3 victory over Sports Hostel (Kudige) in the `B' division league hockey tournament here.

Srinivas Reddy scored twice. Hemachandra Raju added to Srinvas Reddy's tally and Karthik scored the winning goal two minutes before the final whistle. Deepak and Shivakumar kept the match alive for Sports Hostel.

Sports Authority of India `C' beat Hassan HC 3-1. Ponappa (2) and Anand Patil scored for the winners. Preetam reduced the margin.

Sri Hanuman Blessings (Gadag) beat BEL Colony Youth Association 2-1. Chapramani (19th) and Kyrakaza (58th) scored for Sri Hanuman Blessings and Uday Singh scored for BCYA in the 59th minute.
