Nobel Academy in semifinals

NEW DELHI: Kathmandu's Nobel Academy defeated Sudhanwa Deb Barma Memorial School, Bishalgarh (Tripura) 5-0 to enter the junior semifinals of the Subroto Cup football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Tuesday. Ranjit (three), Bharat and Pravin were the scorers.

In another match, Sukanta Nagar Vidya Niketan, Kolkata, beat St. Benedict's College, Colombo, 2-0, with Ajay Mallick and Bidesh Turi doing the scoring.

Other results (sub-junior section): St. John Berchman's Middle School, Chhattisgarh 2 (Ramlal and Bhawan) bt Govt. Middle School, Kupwara (J&K) 2-0; Motilal Nehru School, Sonipat 0 drew with Montessori High School, Kurnool 0; Sukanta Nagar Vidya Niketan, Kolkata 1 (Vikas Hari) bt St. Ignatius High School, Gumla; Regimental School, Shillong 7 (J. Rohan, Rahul shine

Rohan Bakshi and Rahul Bakshi shared the opening day's lead with three-over 75 in group `A' of the Jaypee Greens junior-sub-junior golf championship on Tuesday.

The scores (Group A, 15-17 years): Rohan Bakshi 75, Rahul Bakshi 75, Fatehbir Dhaliwal 76, Kunal Balhara 76, Sidharth Seth 78.

Group B, 13-14: A. S. Guron 80, Madhav Bal 81, Rashid Khan 81, Bhawani S. Rathore 82, Dhruvavtar Ghei 83.

Group C, 11-12: Raghav Bhandari 82, Fateh Singh 83, Ashbeer S. Saini 84, Hemendra Choudhary 85, Akhil Rao 86.

Sunakshi wins title

Sunakshi Dhingra won the gilrs under-16 1500 metres in the East Delhi District athletics championships at the Lovely Public School grounds here on Monday.

Other winners included Devinder Prasad (60m, boys under-12), Ashwani (60m, boys under-14), Nitin Uniyal (800m, boys under-14), Somal Chandra (1500m, boys under-16), Dishank Jain (long jump, boys under-12), Sidharth Arora (long jump, boys under-14), Sudesh (shot put, boys under-14), Raghbubir (shot put, boys under-12), Yamini (800m, girls under-14), Neha (400m, girls under-16), Nupur (shot put, girls under-14),), Ritika (60m, girls under-12), Shipra (60m, girls under-14) and Samridhi (shot put, girls under-12).
