ANANTAPUR: The Uravakonda police have arrested three persons and seized 21 mopeds stolen in Anantapur and Bellary districts from their possession. The value of the vehicles has been estimated at Rs. 4 lakhs. Giving details to newspersons at Uravakonda on Tuesday, Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar Jain said a team of the special branch and the Uravakonda circle police apprehended three persons moving suspiciously on the Uravakonda-Guntakal road. Based on the information given by them during interrogation the police seized 21 mopeds. The accused persons were identified as R. Ramesh of Chabala village in Vajrakarur mandal, Ramanjaneyulu of Mopidi and B. Suresh of Amidyala, both in Uravankonda mandal. The SP said the police would set up counter action teams to take on action teams of Maoists in the district. He said only 15 armed Maoists were left in the district apart from militants and sympathisers. He asked them to surrender and assured them of a peaceful life. The police had also intensified steps against matka. The police were given shoot at sight orders against highway robbers and dacoits.
