NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday granted time till November 7 to the Centre to submit its views and suggestions for formulating guidelines for conduct of student union elections in educational institutions across the country.

A Bench of Justice Arijit Pasayat and Justice G. P. Mathur had on September 19 asked the Additional Solicitor-General, Gopal Subramaniam to file the response of the Centre within 10 days and directed listing of the matter for further hearing on October 3. On Monday Mr. Subramaniam told the bench that the Association of Indian Universities, the apex body of Indian universities, should be impleaded in the case. While accepting the plea of the ASG, the Bench said that the views of all the State Governments should also be sought and adjourned the hearing to November 7.
