MANGALORE: The Dakshina Kannada Mines Lorry Owners' Association has expressed concern over the bad condition of roads and bridges, and rising overheads owing to increasing prices of consumables. President of the Federation of Karnataka State Lorry Owners' and Agents' Association, G.R. Shanmugappa, who participated in the meeting of the association here on Monday, said in a release that truck owners who are transporting iron ore are being targeted for bad roads, but the bad condition of roads are due to their improper management and inferior quality of road construction. He said truck owners are already suffering owing to the increasing prices of diesel, tyres, lubricants, and salaries of the crew.Supporting the decision of the Dakshina Kannada Mines Lorry Owners' Association to stop the supply of ore to New Mangalore Port, Mr. Shanmugappa said there is no other alternative for the truck drivers at this stage, and political parties should stop blaming them for bad roads.
