BANGALORE: Assumption School, Rajajinagar, celebrated Independence Day and the school patron saint's feast with pomp and show. Colourful cultural programmes and march past by students marked the celebrations. Most Rev. Bernard Moras, Archbishop and president of the Diocesan schools, presided over the function. Principal Irudayaraj, Rev. Fr. Michael, and headmistresses of the primary and nursery sections were present.
A talent for carving
Chandrashekar K.S., 10th standard student at St. Martin's School, Magadi Road, excels in carving.
His ability to carve figurines out of pieces of chalk, wax, soap, grain, and chocolate has brought him laurels. The school recognised his talent early and encouraged him to pursue his hobby. Rotaract Interact Club is also helping Chandrashekar to excel in this art.
Gandhi Jayanti
St. Thomas Public School and Oxford English School honoured the memory of Mahatma Gandhi with an interschool elocution competition on Gandhiji, his ideals, and their relevance to our times. The winners were: juniors: Videesha K. (first prize), Bharath (second prize); pre-seniors: Shwetha S. (first prize), Shruthi Rajan (second prize); seniors: Keerthi K.M. (first prize), Vijitha U.G. and Lakshmi Priya (second prize).
