Girl knocked down by military truck?

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: A military truck allegedly knocked down a three-year-old girl Laxmi who was standing on roadside at a bus stop in Trimulgherry on Tuesday killing her on the spot. The victim's mother Devamma, sustained injuries while trying to rescue her.

The truck driver did not care to stop and drove away even before the horrified passers-by could react. "Being illiterate persons, Devamma and her husband Venkataiah could not note down the vehicle's number," Karkhana Sub-Inspector Gangadhar said.

The couple were working as labourers in the Indane Gas Agency office located near Hanuman temple of Trimulgherry and live in a quarter on its premises.

The military vehicle was coming from BRO crossroads to Trimulgherry. "What I could understand from the account of eye witnesses, the truck driver was coming in a rash and negligent manner and hit the girl," the SI explained.

A hunt was launched to track the truck.
