HYDERABAD: Senior fitter Jnaneshwar was looking forward for his voluntary retirement from the Gulf Oil Corporation Limited. Instead, he died in the accident on the premises of the factory formerly known as Indian Detonators Factory on Tuesday.

Back from leave

"For some personal reasons, he applied for voluntary retirement and I believe his application was cleared and was about to bid goodbye to the company in a few days," one of his colleagues working at the crystallisation plant told reporters.

For the past three days, Jnaneshwar was on leave and resumed duty on Tuesday. Workers were dumbstruck by their colleague's death. A large number of workers sat in stunned silence at the factory's main entrance unable to digest the unfortunate incident. This is the second incident resulting in the loss of human life in the factory in the past two years.

A powerful blast had ripped through the factory's fuse wire manufacturing unit killing nine workers and injuring several others on November 25, 2003.
