Committee reviews development works

Construction of Collector's bungalow underway

KRISHNAGIRI: The Committee on Government Assurance of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly met at the Collectorate here on Wednesday and reviewed all projects proposed and implemented for the current financial year. The District Revenue Officer D. Sundaram presided over the meeting.

Fire station

At the meeting, the Committee Chairman L. Santhanam said that out of 29 assurances taken up by the Committee, a total of 11 assurances had already been completed and the remaining would be completed shortly.

The construction of a fire station building at Bargur, new bus stand at Krishnagiri, appointment of Telugu teachers in schools in Thally and Hosur, desiltation of lakes in Hosur and Denkanikottai were reviewed during the meeting.

Bus stand

Mr. Santhanam said that works on the construction of a new Collectorate, Collector's bungalow and travellers' bungalow was in progress and would be completed shortly.

Similarly, about 35 per cent of works on the construction of a new bus stand at Krishnagiri had been completed and the remaining works would be completed by the end of this financial year.

Children's park

In addition, about 80 per cent of works on the construction of a children's park and boathouse on the Avadhanpatti lake had been completed.

The Government earned a revenue of Rs. 1.78 lakhs through the boathouse in the last one month, he said.

Family cards

Out of 3.20 lakhs family cards, about 3 lakhs cards had been issued till date.

A total of 20,000 cardholders who have migrated to other districts in search of work had not yet applied for renewal of their family cards.

Date would be extended for these cardholders alone to apply for renewal of their ration cards, Mr. Santhanam added.

The Project Officer of DRDA R. Sakthivel and the District Forest Officer S. Paulraj were persent.
