ANANTAPUR: Rage Parasuram assumed office as the first Mayor of Anantapur Municipal Corporation here on Wednesday. Bandi Sreeramulu took charge as Deputy Mayor. Later, at a meeting with civic body officials the new Mayor listed his priorities and sought their cooperation in improving the basic amenities to citizens. He said he would soon represent to Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy with the plea to sanction underground drainage project and improve drinking water supply by taking up Rs. 30-crore pipeline project from Penna Ahobilam Balancing Reservoir, among others.
