Helping nurses with better career prospects

Special Correspondent

`Team HealthCare not only sends nurses overseas, but also provides training conforming to U.S. and British hospital regulations'

BANGALORE: The U.S. is facing a shortage of nearly 8 lakh trained nurses. Last year, only 350 Indian nurses were able to get into the U.S. with green cards.

Isaac Ullatil, whose Team HealthCare Pvt. Ltd. not only sends Indian nurses overseas, but also provides training conforming to the U.S. and British hospital regulations, says the reason for many nurses not getting suitable jobs even after reaching the foreign shores is lack of recognised skills. Many end up doing menial jobs and earn much below their potential all for lack of a valid certification.

"Since we specialise in international healthcare staffing in the U.S. and the U.K., we conduct training courses that are approved overseas, by hiring hospital facilities in Bangalore and Mumbai. We are planning to start training centres in Chennai and Delhi too,'' Mr. Ullatil says.

Team HealthCare will not be taking money from nurses seeking jobs abroad, but will provide selected nurses with scholarships. So far, 650 scholarships have been provided to nurses being trained in hospitals here.

The company gets revenues from hospitals that hire nurses through it.
