Grievance day meet

MADURAI: D. Babunathmalli, Superintending Engineer, Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, Metro, Madurai, will convene a consumer grievance day meeting at Madurai north division office between 11.00 a.m. and 1 p.m. on October 6.

Consumers residing at Tammukkam, Theppam, Munichalai, Arasamaram, Race Course, Sellur and Tagore Nagar areas can air their grievances at the meeting either in person or through petitions, according to a release.

Power shutdown

There will be a power shutdown in the following areas on October 6, owing to maintenance work to be carried out in the Narasingamppatti sub-station.

Agricultural College, Kathapatti, Chittampatti, Vellaripatti, Narasingampatti, Therkutheru, Valachikulam, Maruthoor, Vepadapu, Poonchuthi, Sunnampur, Aamur, Idaiyapatti, Ettimangalam, Chennakarampatti, Melavalavu, Pattur, Kesampatti, Arittapatti, A. Vellalapatti, Dharmadhanapatti, T. Vellalapatti, Pattanam, Mathur and Mangulam, according to a release.

Training programme

The Valliammal Institution at Gandhi Museum will organise a two-day training programme on `Buddhist Vipassana meditation' between 10.30 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. on October 8 and 9.

Bhikku Bothi pala swami, a great Buddhist saint and scholar, would give the training.

Music classes

Thirunavukkarasar Music Research and Music Education Trust will conduct free `Thevarathirumurai' music classes at 6 p.m. at Thiruvavaduthurai Aatheena Mutt on Saturdays.

According to a release, people of all age groups can attend the classes.

In view of the `Vijaya dasami' day, new classes on vocal, `viloin' and `mridhangam' will be conducted.

At the end of the course, certificates, books, cassettes and CDs would be distributed.

Competition

An elocution competition in Tamil was organised as part of the National Blood Donation Day celebration at Madurai Kamaraj University College on Tuesday.

Senthil Kumar of Dhanapandiyan Polytechnic won the first prize.

Lakshmi of Senthamil College, and Ashok Kumar of MTN College, won the second and third prizes respectively.

Office-bearers

Following persons were elected office-bearers of Then-India Kythari Javuli Vyaparigal Sangam Limited at an executive committee meeting held recently.

T.R.S. Vijaya Ragavachari, president, K.R. Krishnamoorthy, vice-president, A.S. Subramanian, treasurer, B.G. Krishnamoorthy and N.S.Mothilal, honorary secretaries and B.V. Krishnamoorthy, K.S.Amarlal, P.G. Thulasiram, K.T.E.Sethuram, T.S.Uthamman, and R. Ganeswaran, directors, according to a release.

Similarly, the following were elected office-bearers of Madurai Management Association for 2005-2007 at an annual general body meeting held recently: B.T. Bangera (president), K. Natarajan and P.
