26 students, driver hurt as school van overturns

Van loses control, falls into a ditch at Palappoor

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As many as 26 students and a driver sustained injuries when the private van in which they were returning from school turned turtle at Palappoor, near Vandithadom, in Thiruvallam police station limits, on Wednesday.

According to the police, the incident took place at 2.30 p.m. when the students from the Christ Nagar English Senior Secondary School, Thiruvallam, were returning home after classes.

The van, which lost control, slipped from the road and fell into a ditch.

Of the injured students, five were admitted to Ward Two of the SAT Hospital while 18 others were being kept under observation in the hospital.

The driver, Sajeev, 29, hailing from Kovalam, along with three students, were admitted to the Medical College hospital.
