Distributes prizes to Youth Congress members, voluntary organisations

PONDICHERRY: Health Minister E. Valsaraj said on Thursday that there was increased awareness among the people about the importance of donating blood.

Participating in the national voluntary blood donation programme organised at the government general hospital here, the Minister distributed certificates and prizes to teams of Youth Congress functionaries, voluntary organisations, industrial workers and individuals who had donated blood on several occasions. Mr. Valsaraj earlier flagged off mobile units that would propagate the importance of donating blood.

Project Director of the AIDS Control Society Gilbert Fernandez said counsellors and members of voluntary organisations would draw attention through handbills the highlights of the month-long celebration of blood donation.
