MADURAI: Host Sethu Institute of Technology (SIT) reigned supreme in the three day Anna University inter-zonal (10 Zone Basis) basketball tournament, which concluded here on Thursday. S.I.T, which emerged earlier winner of the Champion Colleges final, went on to win the overall champion colleges and Combined Zone teams final. Incidentally in both the finals, the opponent happened to be St.Joseph's Engineering College, Chennai. Earlier in the combined zone teams final, Zone 9 (Madurai) beat Zone 7 (Coimbatore) 47-40. S. Mohamed Jaleel, Chairman, S.I.T. gave away the prizes. The results: Overall Champion Colleges and Combined Zone teams final: S.I.T. 53 (Dominic Joe 13, Manikandan 12) bt St.Joseph's E.C. Chennai 48 (Prince David 13, Manikandan 12). Semi-finals: S.I.T. 46 (Balasubramanian 12) bt Zone 7 Coimbatore 14 (Vigneswaran 10); St.Joseph's E.C 57 (Sriram 16) bt Zone 9 Madurai 45 (Happy 14). Champion Colleges final: S.I.T. 67 (Dominic Joe 28, Muthukumar 14) bt St.Joseph's E.C 58 (Prince David 28, Manikandan 10). Zone combines teams final: Zone 9 Madurai 47 (Prince 17, Happay 16) bt Zone 7 Coimbatore 40 (Venkatesh 13, Kiran Nair 10).
