National ranking meet from today

Special Correspondent

JAMSHEDPUR: Consistency has been the keyword of Indian archery of late. Beginning the New York World championship in 2003, Indian archery has been on the rise matching the world's best.

By the time the next world meet came about in 2005 at Madrid, the Indian archers scaled new heights winning the men's recurve team silver medal and the women's team missing bronze by a whisker. And on the individual front, Tarundeep Rai too came close to winning a medal but came a cropper in the semifinals and subsequently lost the bronze medal in the third place play-off.

With the 14th Asian archery championship slated for early November in New Delhi, the third and final National ranking meet beginning at J.R.D. Tata Sports Complex here on Friday gained immense importance, for the tournament will serve as the selection trials.
