MYSORE: Anju Bobby George will be the stellar attraction at the Mysore Dasara Sports scheduled to commence here on October 7. She is also slated to take part in the Mysore Marathon on Saturday. The Mysore Dasara Sports has been a regular fixture for many years. It has grown from being just a wrestling event and this year's meet will have 15 disciplines including a new addition body building. Participants go through three stages, the Block level, Taluk level and the district level to participate in the Dasara Sports. Only the 21km Mysore Marathon has achieved sponsorship with LIC, Bhavana Marbles and Air India coming forward to fund the event. The Marathon's route was just being rerouted thanks to traffic restrictions prevalent in Mysore. The sacred torch, the Kreeda Jyoti, will be lit at Chamundi Hill and will go through the city before finally being installed at the Chamundi Vihar. The closing ceremony will be held on October 9 at 4 p.m. Jabbar Khan H. Honavalli, Minister for Youth Services and Sports, will preside.
