Special Correspondent

Over 5,000 farmers from 32 districts to participate

  • Bikaner Agricultural University, Central Arid Zone Research Institute, Jodhpur to cooperate
  • Three-day programme to be organised in each district

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan State Agricultural Marketing Board will shortly organise a series of training programmes for farmers to apprise them of the advances made in agricultural practices, post-harvesting management and the marketing strategies. About 5,000 farmers from all the 32 districts in the State are expected to participate in these programmes.

The Board's Administrator, Ranjit Singh Gathala, said in Udaipur on Wednesday that the Agricultural University, Bikaner, and the Central Arid Zone Research Institute, Jodhpur, would extend cooperation in holding the events.

The three-day programmes will be organised at the Agricultural Research Centres in each district.

Mr. Gathala said the training would lay emphasis on adopting market-oriented approach in the entire agricultural activities ranging from sowing of seeds to harvesting and selling the produce. The significance of the ground water recharge, rain water harvesting and graded packaging in the agricultural marketing will also be highlighted in the training.

Mr. Gathala said Rajasthan had an enormous potential for development of bio-farming in view of the traditional use of manure despite the promotion of chemical fertilisers.
