Contract farming

NEW DELHI: The State Bank of India and Dabur India Ltd. have entered into an agreement for financing farmers for cultivation of medicinal and aromatic crops under contract farming arrangements.

An MoU in this regard was signed by the Chief General Manager of SBI, Delhi Circle, B. K. Gairola, and Member (Managing Committee) and Vice President-supply), Dabur India, Jude Magima, on October 3.

The agreement constitutes a broad understanding between SBI and Dabur to finance farmers for cultivation of medicinal and aromatic crops initially in Uttaranchal and later such contract farming arrangements is likely to be extended to other States.

Thal Sainik Camp

NEW DELHI: The Maharashtra Directorate of NCC won the highest number of individual medals at the All-India Thal Sainik Camp for girls and boys organised from September 23 to October 5.

On the last day of the camp, boy and girl cadets from all NCC directorates presented a cultural programme in the presence of the chief guest for the occasion Lt. Gen M.C. Bhandari. The programme was followed by a prize distribution ceremony.

Bhagidari Workshop

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit announced on Thursday that her Government would soon come out with a special policy for women's health care to make them physically fit to face the challenges of a fast changing society.

Inaugurating a three-day Bhagidari Workshop on Stree Shakti, Ms. Dikshit stressed the need for better health care for women "because the health of an entire family depends on the health of women in it". She said the Stree Shakti programme had changed the scenario in rural areas and slums where a large number of health check-up camps had been organised to provide medical help to women at their doorstep.

Free blood tests

NEW DELHI: Free blood tests will be conducted for the public at the 10-day Perfect Health Mela to he held for the first time at Shivaji Place in Raja Garden from October 21.

The free tests will be done with the help of modern equipment and will include all parameters of haemoglobin, detailed lipid profile, and liver, kidney and blood sugar tests, according to the Heart Care Foundation of India.

Awards presented to students

NEW DELHI: The Member of Parliament from New Delhi, Ajay Maken, presented awards to young achievers and meritorious students of Delhi Public School, Rohini, at a function in the school premises earlier this week.

Prizes were given for special achievements in the field of music, art, dance and sports to students of the junior school. The Principal, Rita Sen, announced that awards were also given to Siksha Kendra students who were associated with the school as also those who were physically or visually challenged but came up with outstanding performances during 2004-05.
