CHENNAI: Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Thursday handed over the trophy to K. Srikkanth, captain of the Chief Minister's XI, which defeated the South Australian Prime Minister's XI by 20 runs, in a goodwill exhibition cricket match on September 29. The Chief Minister's XI team was represented by Minister for Law and Information Technology D. Jayakumar and cricketers belonging to the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. The other side had, among others, South Australian Premier Mike Rann and captain Darren Lehmann. In the 20-over match held at M.A.Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, the Chief Minister's XI scored 129 runs while the South Australian Prime Minister's XI could manage only 109. The match was held after Mr. Rann held talks with Ms. Jayalalithaa on issues relating to trade and cultural exchanges between Tamil Nadu and South Australia. Former Test cricketer L. Sivramakrishnan, Editor-in-Chief of The Hindu N. Ram, R. Rajagopal, Secretary (Planning and Development), and other members of the team were present when Ms. Jayalalithaa presented the trophy to Srikkanth at the Secretariat.
