PATHANAMTHITTA: : The UDF has retained power in Thiruvalla municipality. UDF candidates were selected chairman and vice-chairman of the urban body in the draw of lots held for the posts of chairman and vice-chairman after the UDF and the LDF got 18 votes each in the 36-member municipal council. The elections were held on Thursday. The sitting chairman, Koshy Thomas, of the Congress is the chairman and the Independent councillor Bappu Kizhakkan Muthoor the new vice-chairnman. The three BJP members in the council voted for the LDF.
