Man held under Goonda Act

HUBLI: Ramesh Madhusa Bhandage (42) of Kamaripet has been arrested under the provisions of the Goonda (Prevention) Act on the charge of brewing illicit liquor. Hubli-Dharwad Police Commissioner Narayan Nadamani told presspersons here on Friday that the accused has been sent to the Gulbarga district prison.

He said the accused was engaged in manufacture and sale of illicit liquor during the past six years. The police had registered 19 cases against him and confiscated illicit liquor and other goods worth Rs. 23.74 lakhs, Mr. Nadamani said. He said the accused, who was released on bail, was absconding for the past three monthsThe police traced him in Bangalore.
