KULITHALAI: Computer literacy holds the key to bright career prospects. Make use of self-employment training programmes on computer education, the Collector, A. Karthik, told rural youths at the inauguration of a self-employment training programme in computers, organised by the Nehru Yuva Kendra and Poor People Development Education Society, an NGO, at Nachalur near here on Thursday. Terming computer literacy as a veritable passport to success, he stressed the need to look beyond a government job. "Generate employment for other youths instead of depending on government jobs," the Collector told trainees.
Training to 40 youths
About 40 youths including girls from nearby rural areas would be trained at the PPDES training facility at Nachalur for six months when they would be given a stipend of Rs. 300 a month. The Department of Youth Affairs and Sports is sponsor of the programme. While the present batch is the first to be trained under the programme in the district, plans are there to launch a second batch soon. The Kulithalai MLA, A. Pappasundaram, the Nehru Yuva Kendra Youth Coordinator, P. Mayilsamy, and the PPDES secretary, E. Sivaji, participated in the inauguration.
