Cabinet to await full judgment on Bihar
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI:
The Union Cabinet on Saturday discussed the Supreme Court order on the dissolution of the Bihar Assembly and decided to wait for the full judgment before taking any follow-up action.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Union Minister and Cabinet spokesperson Jaipal Reddy said the Cabinet noted three features of the order. The first was that it was a majority order. Secondly, the judgment had enabled elections to be held in Bihar. Thirdly, the reasoned argument of the order would be offered later.
Asked whether any action to replace Bihar Governor Buta Singh was being contemplated, Mr. Reddy declined to comment. "When we do not know what are the arguments for the Court's order, we can not give any comment hypothetically."
