HYDERABAD: Anti-Corruption Bureau officials conducted a search in the house of Chief Engineer of Irrigation (Medium) Department B.V.S. Prakasa Rao here on Saturday and unearthed disproportionate assets worth Rs. 60 lakh, roughly. According to a press release, ACB Director-General, S.S.P. Yadav, said that the CE's acquired properties include three houses, two flats, one shop; 10 plots in Hyderabad, Kakinada and Visakhapatnam, 21 acres of agriculture land in Sadasivpet, four acres in Bhimavaram, 120 tolas of gold, three kilos silver, Rs. 2 lakh cash, bank balances, car, motorcycle, etc. The case was under investigation.

The High Court confirmed the two years rigorous imprisonment sentence and a fine of Rs. 1,000 awarded to B. Umameshwara Rao, Senior Assistant, District Tribal Welfare Office, Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad districts, by the Principal Special Judge for ACB cases. Earlier, the ACB officials trapped him in 1995 when he was taking a bribe of Rs. 500 from a person for showing an official favour, the statement added.
