Chanchal Sarkar dead
NEW DELHI:
Chanchal Sarkar, doyen of Indian journalism and former Director of the Press Institute of India, died in the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences here on Monday morning.
Mr. Sarkar, 79, had been ailing for some time. He is survived by his wife, Latika Sarkar, who is in the forefront of a women's movement.
After retirement from the Press Institute, Mr. Sarkar contributed articles to The Hindu, Indian Express and The Tribune. He also wrote for foreign newspapers such as The Guardian and Sunday Mail. UNI
