SYDNEY: Cricket is likely to return to Commonwealth Games and venue will be New Delhi, host of the 2010 edition of the Games. The Executive Board of the International Cricket Council (ICC) which concluded its two-day meeting here on Tuesday virtually gave its thumps up to include the sport as one of the disciplines for the 2010 Games. The Executive Board asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to start discussions with the Organising Committee for the 2010 Games and decide on cricket's inclusion in the event and on the appropriate format. ``The BCCI was asked to then come back to the Board with its recommendations concerning cricket's participation in the Games,'' an ICC release issued after Board's meeting said. Cricket was first included in 1998 when the Commonwealth games was held in Kuala Lumpur. Regarding reports that India and Pakistan are jointly planning to bid to host the 2011 World Cup, the ICC asserted that ``no decision was made on awarding any event to any country or countries post-2007 and no submissions to stage any such events were received,'' the release said. However, it was agreed at the meeting that any country or countries wishing to be awarded an ICC event would have to provide evidence of compliance in four key areas related to holding such an event tax, facilities, visas and venues. A final decision on the venue for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 would be taken at the Annual Conference at Lord's in June next year. UNI
