NALGONDA: A hotel owner, Kotla Venkataiah,28, of Neredgomma in Chandampet mandal was done to death by suspected action team of the Krishnapatti dalam of the CPI (Maoist) on Wednesday. They dropped two boulders on his face after pumping bullets into him from close range. According to P. Viswaprasad, Officer on Special Duty, two persons went to Venkatiah's home on the pretext of buying diesel. When he went inside to bring the diesel can, the duo followed him. Venkataiah, who sensed danger, ran out crying for help. The duo then fired five rounds at him from close range resulting in severe bleeding. "They then smashed his face with boulders," Mr. Viswaprasad said. The OSD termed it an act of desperation. The naxalites disappeared from the scene after carrying out the killing. Villagers are puzzled about the naxals' motive as the victim had no political leanings.
