NEW DELHI: The Indian Olympic Association and UNICEF on Thursday entered into an alliance on spreading AIDS awareness among young people. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the IOA President, Suresh Kalmadi and the Deputy Director, Operations, UNICEF, Eimar Barr. The Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit, was a special guest at the signing ceremony held alongside a workshop on `HIV/AIDS prevention through sports.' Some of the salient points in the MoU are: IOA and UNICEF will sign up sport celebrities to endorse public campaigns; UNICEF will be able to display public messages at all major sporting events; both will work together on all airtime agreements for broadcasting of public service announcements; IOA and UNICEF will work with Arjuna Award winners for UNICEF campaigns.
