BANGALORE: Union Minister of State for Railways R. Velu has said that railway stations in Bangalore will be upgraded soon considering that the city is developing fast. He was speaking after flagging off a second Shatabdi Express service between Bangalore and Chennai here on Thursday. On doubling the Bangalore-Mysore railway line, the Minister said the work will be completed soon. He did not specify a deadline. The gauge conversion between Bangalore and Mangalore will be completed before the Mahamastakabhisheka of Bahubali at Shravanabelagola in February next year, he said. The new express train leaves Bangalore at 6 a.m. and reaches Chennai at 11 a.m. It leaves Chennai Central at 5.30 p.m. and arrives here at 10.30 p.m. The train will run six days a week, barring Tuesday. There is already a Shatabdi Express between Chennai and Mysore with a halt in Bangalore.
