DINDIGUL: Police seized 150 bags of rice meant for public distribution system, worth Rs.1.80 lakhs, during a raid on Sempatti-Madurai main road in the wee hours of Thursday. Four persons were arrested and a car and lorry used for smuggling rice seized. A special team intercepted the lorry at Sempatti and found the PDS rice being smuggled from Usilampatti. The lorry driver and cleaner were arrested. Later, they arrested two more persons including a broker. They were travelling in a car to guide the lorry to reach the destination. The arrested were lorry driver Sasikumar and cleaner Raj Prabhu and broker Sundaram and his accomplice Prem Kumar.
