Isolated heavy rain likely in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Northeast monsoon has been vigorous over south coastal Andhra Pradesh and active over Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema and Kerala.

Rainfall occurred at most places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, coastal and south interior Karnataka, at many places over Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, Telangana and north interior Karnataka and at a few places over Lakshadweep.

The following stations recorded very heavy to heavy rainfall in centimetres.

Chennai 15, Covelong (Kanchipuram dt.) and Sulurpet (Nellore dt.) 13 each, Nellore, Thiruvadanai (Ramanathapuram dt.) and Krishnagiri 12 each, Tambaram 10, Thuckalay (Kanyakumari dt.), Chennai Airport and Tiruvallur 9 each, Udumalpet (Coimbatore dt.) 8 and Chembarambakkam (Tiruvallur dt.), Bhavani and Mulanur (both Erode dt.) and Varkala (Thiruvananthapuram dt.) 7 each.

Forecast (valid until Saturday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherrry, Kerala, Lakshadweep, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Karnataka and at a few places over Telangana.

HEAVY RAINFALL WARNING: Isolated heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur over Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry during next 48 hours.

Isolated heavy rain is also likely to occur over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema during the same period.

Farmers Weather Bulletin for Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry (valid until Saturday morning): Moderate to rather heavy rain is likely to occur at many places over all the districts of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
