INDORE: Cellular service provider Airtel on Thursday said it would invest nearly Rs 250 crores in Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh circle to further widen its reach and services in the region. ``In order to further strengthen the network in the circle the company would invest nearly Rs 250 crores in 2005-'06 to mark its footprints in more towns,'' Airtel Chief Operating Officer (MP-Chhattisgarh circle) Sunil K. Goyal told reporters here after launching ``blackberry'' mobiles in the market. The company has presence in 91 cities and towns in the circle, of which 42 were added during the last six months. Airtel aims at expanding its network at a faster pace to ensure more coverage in the circle. The `blackeberry' mobile, which has a host of features, including instant e-mail facility, is now available in Indore, Bhopal, Raipur and Bhilai, he said. At present, the company has 25 `blackberry' subscribers in Indore and plans to sell about 100 corporate-friendly gadgets per month in the circle. The company had a 17 per cent market share in the circle with a mobile subscriber base of 3.4 lakh customers and was adding nearly 15,000 subscribers every month, he said. -PTI
