SIDDHARTHNAGAR (U.P.): With five more casualties reported during the last 24 hours, the toll from Japanese Encephalitis (JE) in East Uttar Pradesh on Thursday reached 896. Additional Director (Health) C. B. M. Tripathi said here as many as 39 new cases of the virulent disease had been reported at various hospitals in the region during the last 24 hours, taking the total number of patients to 3879, out of which 896 had died. Dr Tripathi said as many as 184 patients were still being treated for the killer disease. Out of this, 133 were admitted at the Baba Raghav Das Medical College (BRDMC) Gorakhpur, the hub of the ailment since July 28, when the first JE case was reported. UNI
