Railways publish list of information officers

As per provisions of Right to Information Act


  • Assistant public information officer will receive written request for information
  • Requests have to be disposed of within 30 days
  • M. Sivanandam, additional divisional railway manager, is the appellate authority

    KOZHIKODE: Southern Railway has released the list of officers nominated by its General Manager for the information of public, as per the provisions of Right to Information Act, 2005.

    The zonal level (Southern Railway) officers are: B. Nageswara Rao, deputy director (Public Grievances) has been designated as Assistant Public Information Officer (Phone 044-25352830). M. Amarendra, deputy general manager (general), is designated as public information officer (Ph: 044-25355305). R.Gopinathan Nair, additional general manager, is the appellate authority (Ph: 044-25353743; fax: 044-25341225).

    The divisional level (Palghat Division) officers are: C. Padmadas, assistant commercial manager, is designated as assistant public information officer (Ph: 0491-2555323). V. Rajagopalan, senior divisional commercial manager, is designated as public information officer (0491-2555443; fax: 0491-2555339). M. Sivanandam, additional divisional railway manager, is the appellate authority (Ph: 0491-2555343; 0491-2555339).

    The role of the assistant public information officer is to receive the written request for information. The public information officer has to dispose of such requests either by providing the information or rejecting them within 30 days from the date of receipt. The role of appellate authority is to entertain and dispose of appeals against the decisions of the public information officer in such cases of requests as required under the Act.

    A Southern Railway release directed the public to refer the relevant sections of the Right to Information Act before submitting a request.
