BANGALORE: The Executive Council of the Visvesvaraya Techno- logical University (VTU) has resolved to serve a show cause notice on the Bangalore-based Nadgir Institute of Engineering and Technology following an inquiry report on alleged examination malpractice at the college. The show cause notice will seek to know why the examination centre of the college should not be cancelled and the students shifted to other colleges to enable them to appear for the university examination with effect from January 2006. According to a university release, the varsity's Executive Council had also resolved to serve another show cause notice asking why the college should not be disaffiliated in part, for the first year during the academic year 2006-07, "in view of the malpractices in conducting the examination, as observed by the Question Paper Leakage Investigation Commi- ttee."
Complaints
Following complaints from parents, a university squad had verified the irregularities related to mass copying and the alleged involvement of the faculty. The squad had reported the matter to the university's registrar (evaluation), the chief superintendent and the special officer of the varsity's regional centre here. The report was then placed before the Question Paper Leakage Investigation Committee on August 2. This panel conducted an enquiry of its own and submitted a report to the registrar (evaluation).
